The Age of Transitions

Noble — Thu, 12/04/2008 - 12:10

You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us and the world will be as one
- John Lennon, "Imagine"

This is the best video I've found on an issue which to me is more important even than the economic crisis. Very handily, citing all of the sources I would cite if I were to make such a film (my video-editing talents are nil), this video properly ties together the Eugenics movement and Transhumanism. I already own most of the books mentioned in this video and have at least perused the military and NSF documents that are mentioned. I am familiar with pretty much all of the name. To be honest, I've been waiting haplessly for somebody to put this all together in a digestible video format. I'm glad he even added some of the old alchemical hermaphroditic art.

THIS is the endgame: the hive mind, and genetically engineering new types of humans. The economic crisis, and the rioting that will follow, the ever-present depression of our age, our love of quick-fix scientific solutions to perennial human problems, our worship of experts and complete lack of faith in ourselves, our disdain for individualistic people or those with fixed belief systems ("outdated" religions for example), all encouraged by mass media and culture, are all drivers towards this solution. The battle for money is but one front in the ever-ongoing war for the mind. I don't believe that any sort of global mass depopulations/cullings will happen until this technology is firmly in place. Once this technology is firmly in place, it is game over for what we know as humanity. If you think television, pop culture, and anti-depressants turn off people's brains and makes us apathetic, wait until they have a networked silicon chip in our wetware.

Especially if you've watched Zeitgeist: Addendum and its presentation of The Venus Project, please supplement it with this video. This is the real collectivist techno-utopia. Remember, it's the people provoking the pressure in society that also funded all the research into eugenics, bioethics, cracking the genome, transhumanism, human-machine synthesis, and all of the beautiful new technologies on the horizon. They want to save humanity from its own unhappiness -- unhappiness which is in large part deliberately created.

I echo the message of this movie - human consciousness is sacred and worth saving, in its current state, not some "oneness" or computerized "global hive mind." If I could sum of the goal of this site in a sentence, that would be it. It is such a brief and precious thing that were are alive on this planet to behold existence. We can have individual points of view, see through propaganda and cultural norms, look at the same facts and draw our own unique conclusions from them. Conscious thought, with all its flaws, is humanity's one and only unique gift, which should NEVER be given away at ANY price, no matter how much we might want to give it up when the sadness of life is too great to bear.

You might also want to take a quick read of this good analysis, that brings Malthus into the picture as well: Influence of Malthus and Darwin on the European Elite.

Paul, thanks for your recent comments. I have read a bit ABOUT Terrence McKenna, but I have read nothing of his. I have read up on Novelty Theory on Wikipedia, but that's it. Do you recommend anything in particular for reading him? There was a time, when I was too naive to read up on his history and the other things he was involved with (such as Tavistock, and sticking electrodes into animals' brains), that I considered Aldous Huxley and his ilk a bit of a prophet. One reason I focus so much on Aldous Huxley and his experiences with various drugs, is because I know how powerful drugs (especially hallucinogens) can be for smashing barriers to perception... Not that the drugs give you REAL perception, per se, but they make it very clear, the way Zen koans attempt to do with paradoxes, that our perception of what we call "reality" is a slave to our five senses and whatever influences them.
