True story, there was a woman who was attending AA in Pasquotank County, some years back. She was a druggie and she had prostituted herself. She goes to the church for help. He passes around the collection plate, telling the folks how their money could help this lady. Afterwards, he tells her to meet him in his office, where he will write her a check. She gets there, and he tells her she’s a worthless whore and to get the fuck out of his office. She left without anything.

I can’t prove this happened, but this is her claim. And I don’t doubt it.

The imagery is at once offensive to me. I don’t really care about the masochists who wouldn’t mind it, because even that is not benign. It reaches beyond themselves, they like being trodden upon, and from that comes masochism by proxy, which is what Hitler (forced others) to suffer.
